Hundreds Audition for Indiana Jones 4

Latest news reports suggest that hundreds of extras turned up for the casting call in New Haven. Early reports indicated that 400 extras would be required, however, this number is not yet certain. People reportedly camped outside the Omni Hotel where the casting was being held, which expedited the open call to 7am, from the original 1pm.

Indiana Jones 4 Coming to Deming, NM

The Las Cruces Sun-News has published two articles (here and here) on the upcoming Indiana Jones 4 filming coming to Deming, New Mexico. Here's a bit from the first article:

The fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" series will film some scenes in Deming. The working title is: "Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods."

An area outside Deming will be transformed through Hollywood magic into Morocco.

Folks who work in the technical side of the film business have been in Deming for weeks. A building at the former air strip in Deming has been painted blue, with a USAF insignia and the words "Home Of The Fighter Pilot" painted on an outside wall. In addition, WWII Air Force vehicles are parked nearby.

Visit the links above for more on this. The fourth Indy jones adventure hits theaters on May 22, 2008.

New Mexico becoming Morocco for Indy Jones 4

New Mexico, the reported first filming site for Indiana Jones 4 is currently being transformed in to Morocco.

Although there has been no word on the dates for shooting at the Southern New Mexico location, there has been definite 'goings-on' for the last few weeks at the site. As reported in the Post Chronicle:
A building at the former air strip in Deming, N.M., was painted blue and now sports a USAF insignia and "Home of the Fighter Pilot" on an outside wall, The Las Cruces (N.M.) Sun-News reported Friday. World War II Air Force vehicles are parked nearby.

No Sean Connery in Indiana Jones 4 2008

Well, my predictions were wrong. Today Sean Connery announced that he will not be in the newest Indiana Jones movie, set for release in 2008. Indiana Jones 4 was set to feature Connery, as the part had been written in to the script.

Sean Connery stated he would rather enjoy his retirement. On a Statement on the film's official website he said he though "long and hard" about whether he would come back from retirement for Indiana Jones IV.

"If anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film," he said. Well, obviously retirement is "that good" for Connery, who will not be making the return. I guess that is it for the film career of Connery, who stated "retirement is just too much fun".
Well that leaves up with the question of what will happen to the Sean Connery part in the script for Indy 4? Obviously it will be written out, but it is interesting that they took this long before releasing a confirmation of whether Connery would be in the film or not.

Connery left with this advice for the 65 year old Ford: "Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator!"

Indiana Jones 4 Scoops and Spoilers

As posted by somebody on imdb:

I'm not sure how they would already have this decided, but I saw in an article about it being filmed in New Haven that a representative of Paramount pictures sent a letter to the City of New Haven asking permission for the use of a church in the, " PG-rated action adventure movie." I hope this isn't true..

Not that there would be any problem with it being a PG action adventure. The last 3 films were essentially that and they were excellent.

LaBeouf prepares for Indiana Jones IV

Shia LaBeouf, star of DreamWorks’ upcoming film “Transformers” and of course, “Indiana Jones 4,” recently discussed prep work on the later film with Canadian film site MoviesOnline. It’s unclear when LaBeouf spoke with the publication, but you may be surprised to hear that he at the time of the chat, he had yet to read the complete screenplay for “Indiana Jones 4”! With only a couple of weeks to go before production commencement, LaBeouf says that rehearsals for the roles have yet to begin, but the production is actually ready to go before cameras just the same!

“We haven't gotten into any rehearsals,” LaBeouf told MoviesOnline. “It's just been a lot of stunt rehearsals and a lot of weapons training and things like that.”

Lots of stunt rehearsals and weapons training could mean lots of exciting Indy action that fans of the series have come to love and expect (despite series creator George Lucas’ recent downplaying of the cycle’s action elements in relation to star Harrison Ford’s age).

LaBeouf also said that he’s been working more with Spielberg specifically, since the actors in the series are the director’s domain.

“Lucas isn't as involved as Spielberg with the actors. I mean, it's all Steven...,” LaBeouf stated.

While the production is being notoriously secretive, even to the extent of withholding the screenplay from the cast — if LaBeouf’s comments are current — it’s a safe presumption that pages will soon start to make their way to a cast set to hit the ground running on June 18 when the production commences.

“Indiana Jones 4” is scheduled for a worldwide release on May 22, 2008. The film stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, and Shia LaBeouf under Steven Spielberg’s direction of a David Koepp screenplay.

‘Indiana Jones 4’ extras call for New Haven shoot

It’s no secret that the cast and crew of “Indiana Jones 4” will be traveling to New Haven, Conn. to shoot a sequence for one of the most anticipated films of Steven Spielberg’s career, and now’s your chance to be a part of the action!

The production is holding an open casting call for extras to appear in a sequence where Indy tears through campus on a motorcycle (along Chapel Street in New Haven). The call, organized by Billy Dowd Casting, will be held on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 at the Omni Hotel at Yale between 1 p.m.-9 p.m. both days.

You must be 18 years or older, and you must bring a headshot with you to the casting call. (Photos will not be returned, so make sure that it’s not your only copy.) Filming of the New Haven sequence will take place between June 28 and July 7.

Best of luck to anyone who attends the extras casting call. Be sure to share your experience of the call, or (if you get onto the film) the production itself with us in our “Indiana Jones” forum here at SpielbergFilms.com.

Lucas defends Ford

And now Lucas, of course, has his eye on another American classic: Indiana Jones. The fourth chapter in the film series, with Lucas producing and close pal Steven Spielberg directing, begins shooting in Los Angeles this June. Then it's on to several top-secret global destinations. Lucas teases that one will include a waterfall.

Jokes have been made about how the franchise will keep 64-year-old star Harrison Ford up and running, but Lucas doesn't see that as a problem.

"He's not running in any of the movies," Lucas says. "He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film — it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him. And he will get beat up, which is a tradition for us."

Indiana Jones 4 movie, but what about indiana jones 5?

With all this talk of the Indiana Jones 4 movie, has anybody stopped to ask about Indiana Jones 5? Has there been any word on this? I know when there is a great franchise it is sometimes hard for directors to let go. I am very happy about an Indiana Jones IV movie, but am still left wondering (with all the other fans), is this going to keep on going?

Indiana Jones IV to begin shooting next week

In a brief interview with formula1.com George Lucas confirmed that the next installment of Indiana Jones (2008) will begin shooting next week.

George Lucas, a huge fan of formula one racing had this to say: "I caught the racing bug when I was 14-years-old -- and I have been following Formula One ever since. ... I plan to go to Indianapolis as well -- if my schedule permits it, as I start shooting Indiana Jones IV next week. If the production is running as planned you will find me there."

That said, the cast list is still quite incomplete; there is no word on whether or not Sean Connery is returning.

Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett are in it as the main character and chief villain; Shia LaBeouf (Disturbia) plays Indy's young ally, and Karen Allen is expected to make a repeat appearance as Marion Ravenwood, Indy's old flame.
